Elbow Support - Physicians

Position Overview

The Resource will provide Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) support to physician providers across multiple healthcare facilities and specialty ambulatory clinics. The Resource will address clinical support issues, deliver training, and assist providers with Epic workflows to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  1. Clinical Support
    • Provide at-the-elbow and remote support to physician providers during go-live periods and after system stabilization.
    • Address provider requests for assistance with Epic workflows across various clinical settings, including but not limited to:
      • ICU
      • Inpatient units
      • Perioperative/peri-procedural areas
      • Labor and Delivery
      • Emergency Department
  2. Technical Support
    • Guide clinicians on correct EMR workflows, including but not limited to:
      • Resolving deficiencies.
      • In-Basket management.
      • Chart Review.
      • Orders and order sets.
      • Adding charges.
      • Writing notes.
      • Document recurring issues to facilitate the development of training materials.
      • Collaborate with the Command Center/Service Desk to:
        • Log issues.
        • Mitigate problems.
        • Address incorrect provider role assignments.
        • Provide detailed descriptions of significant issues during reports.
  3. Training and Education
    • Provide targeted training to physicians.
    • Educate on revenue optimization, including best practices for billing and documentation.
    • Ensure alignment of training efforts with organizational goals in collaboration with the revenue cycle team.
    • Address patient movement and related workflow problems.
    • Deliver training for specialty-specific workflows and needs.
    • Conduct one-on-one or group training sessions.
    • Develop and deliver educational materials, including:
      • Quick-reference guides.
      • Training providers on Dragon Medical One for voice-assisted documentation.
  4. Monitoring and Improvement
    • Work with the revenue cycle team to:
      • Monitor and evaluate progress post-training.
      • Provide feedback and recommendations for ongoing improvement.

Required skills:

  • Epic Experience:

    • At least five (5) years of Epic support experience.

    • Familiarity with Epic modules such as CPOE, Ambulatory, OpTime, Anesthesia, Stork, and others.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Experience with Nuance and Dragon Medical One.

  • Communication:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Specialized Knowledge:

    • In-depth understanding of Epic functionality and workflows.

    • Ability to adapt to and train providers on organization-specific workflows.
