Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Epic Application Coordinator to support the implementation and optimization of the Epic (HealthLink) Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

The Epic Application Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the accelerated implementation and stabilization of the Epic EMR system. This is a high-impact position requiring a seasoned professional to collaborate with operational leadership and technical teams to deliver the project within a challenging timeframe of six months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with current and new operational leadership to identify and document business and technical requirements.
  • Define, document, and execute workflow builds within the Epic system.
  • Maintain and integrate workflows with third-party applications.
  • Test and validate workflows to ensure accuracy and operational viability.
  • Provide post-go-live stabilization support and assist in issue resolution.
  • Guide optimization efforts for future phases of the Epic project.

Typical Tasks

  • Conduct interviews with end-users and stakeholders to gather business, functional, and technical requirements.
  • Support decision-making on configuration options within Epic software.
  • Analyze business operations, investigate end-user preferences, and standardize build decisions.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance operational performance.
  • Communicate regularly with operational teams, Epic representatives, and county staff through project and team meetings.
  • Coordinate meetings to review and address end-user workflow issues.
  • Ensure adherence to change management and data migration protocols.
  • Oversee interoperability between Epic applications and other supporting systems.
  • Design, develop, and execute testing processes, including documentation and facilitation of end-user testing.
  • Provide information to instructional designers to support training initiatives.
  • Document progress and maintain activity logs according to department procedures.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • 3+ years of Epic application build and implementation experience within a health system.
  • Certification or accreditation in the Epic Radiant application.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in business analysis and project management.
  • Experience in Epic implementations at health systems or hospitals.
  • Familiarity with safety net hospitals and their unique challenges.
  • Strong ability to lead and take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Effective translation of business needs into technical requirements and vice versa.
