Teknita is seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Server Administrator to serve as the principal IBM and third-party software product architect and technical resource. The position involves evaluating, designing, implementing, and maintaining IBM software, third-party software, management systems, computer applications, operating systems, and software services. This role requires expertise in VTAM & TCPIP subsystems in a z/OS 2.4 and JES2 environment, as well as technical leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the VTAM & TCPIP subsystems in a z/OS 2.4 and JES2 software environment.
• Participate in software management and installation, including utilizing the IBM SMP/E product for installation and maintenance.
• Implement and verify backup and recovery procedures, including business recovery testing.
• Review system software changes and advise relevant teams on reporting, programming, and performance considerations.
• Create, maintain, and upgrade software systems for development and production environments.
• Monitor system software access, performance, and resource utilization.
• Provide technical leadership for developers on software management systems, development tools, and deployment strategies.
• Act as a liaison between application programmers and vendors to resolve software issues.
• Collaborate with application programmers to prevent application issues affecting production operations.
• Analyze requirements and recommend policies, procedures, and standards for software systems.
• Develop and modify technical documentation to support operations and training.
• Ensure compliance with software use and security authorization policies.
• Provide 24/7/365 software support, including on-call support during off-hours.
• Serve as the Mainframe Team Lead for contract review and execution.
• Act as the focal point for Disaster Recovery processes related to IBM systems.

• 20+ years of experience managing mainframe software, particularly VTAM & TCPIP subsystems and associated products.
• Expertise in software management, logical/physical design, implementation, monitoring, and utilities.
• Strong mentoring and training capabilities for mainframe implementation and maintenance.
• Proficiency in installing and customizing IBM and third-party software using SMP/E and IEBCOPY.
• Ability to multitask with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in batch and online programming, software exit programs, and utilities.
• Solid knowledge of mainframe JCL, utilities, and disaster recovery best practices.
• Expert knowledge of OSA Adapters, IP, VTAM, SSL/TLS traces, and protocols (FTPS, SFTP, AT/TLS, etc.).
• Advanced skills in TSO, ISPF, SDSF, IPTRACE, NTSTAT, RACF commands for digital certificates, and keyring management.
• Understanding of IP routing, VIPA, hyper-sockets, and DR DASD/VTS mirroring.
• Programming experience in Assembler, REXX, and CLISTs.
• Familiarity with z/OS UNIX environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Qualifications

• Working knowledge of z/OS, CICS, and JES2.
• Experience with DB2, Disaster Recovery, and contract management.
